President Donald Trump's longtime personal assistant John McEntee was fired on Monday over an ongoing investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for serious financial crimes, according to CNN.

A source familiar with his firing said that the charges are not related to the President.

White House security escorted McEntee from the premises on Monday, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

Two of those sources said that McEntee was forced out due to issues with his security clearance, adding to the growing list of aides and White House employees that have been forced out due to difficulties obtaining full security clearances.
