Pakistani first female filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is looking forward to empowering women through her newly founded grants and mentorship program called “Patakha”

SOC Films owner Obaid-Chinoy, who produced the Oscar-winning documentary A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness, helped the director earn her second Academy Award. In 2012, she earned her first Academy Award for the documentary saving Face. In addition, the director developed White in the Flag, a multi-year effort intended at spotlighting Pakistan’s minorities and elevating their experiences.
